Frequently Asked Question

What do I do if someone can't get online?
Last Updated a year ago

Follow these steps if someone is unable to get onto your network:

  1. Be sure they have selected your network on their computer under the wifi icon: image
  2. They will then see a Splash Page, similar to the one below, with your logo and company name. If the person is an active member or co-member, have them enter their Deskworks Login and Password in the Login and Password fields. If they don't know it, you can go to their Member Profile (MEMBERS>MEMBER PROFILE on the left sidebar) and enter and save a new password for them to use.
  3. If the person is not a member, they should enter the Access Code sent with their reservation, the Access Code of the Day, or the Access Code emailed to them with their receipt for purchase of a day pass.

  5. If they are definitely on your network, and the Splash Page does not display, they may already be online.
    1. Have them open a browser window and try to go to any page, other than your website. If they can get to it, they are online.
    2. If they are not online but have selected your network (and others are online and on your network), have them type in either of the following URLs to bring up the splashpage:
      1. 172.20.32.1
      2. login.[yoursite].com (this DOES NOT have the "satellitedeskworks.com" extension. It is just your site name. It's helpful to test and know this URL ahead of time.)
    3. If they get the Splash Page, but their login/password still does not work, change the password as above and be sure they are entering it correctly.
    4. If you believe they are entering it correctly, ask if they are trying to go through a VPN (Virtual Private Network.) If they are, ask them to turn it off, get online, then turn the VPN back on.
  6. If you would like to test their login/password to be sure it is working, go to the previous Knowledgebase article, "URL for testing the splash page and user credentials."
